Do the next needed thing....

Have you seen the memes about January having over 37 days? I can relate. We have packed a lot into the first month of 2025. This has been a stressful January for the record books. Are you feeling it too?

Balancing stress for better health.
Balancing stress for better health.

I am reminded of the phrase, “Do the next needed thing.” I first heard this expression last fall while scrolling through Instagram and watching a video by Sharon on SharonSaysSo. It resonated with me deeply. As someone who likes to have a plan, I often want to know the outcome long before it arrives. However, I've realized that this approach doesn’t work and tends to cause me a lot of worry and stress. There are things we can control and things we cannot. When I focus on what I can control, I feel much less stressed.

Everyday Wellbeing Occupational Therapy helps you focus on what you can control and take the next step to manage anxiety, stress, and overall well-being.

Examples of things we can control:

  • What we eat and drink: caffeinated drinks and ultra-processed foods contribute to feelings of anxiety, depression, and feeling out of control.

  • Movement: our bodies are designed to move. Too much time warming up the couch and scrolling on the phone contributes to our stress levels and poor physical health.

  • Mindset: Our thoughts and responses to what is happening in the world, in our communities, online, and in our homes directly impact our mental and physical health.

Do the next needed thing to balance stress for better health.

If you are experiencing feelings of anxiety, depression and/or stress, Everyday Wellbeing Occupational Therapy will work with you to manage anxiety, stress, and overall well-being.
